about binaifer

Binaifer graduated from Smith College and Columbia University and enjoyed a successful career in international affairs. Already an award-winning photographer, Binaifer’s eye for color and composition was drawn to her growing passion for flowers and she found herself creating flower designs for family and friends.  As requests for her flower arrangements increased, Binaifer felt inspired to move into this more creative line of work and in 2009 began training and working as a flower designer.

Binaifer enjoys using indigenous or local meadow-grown flowers whenever possible. Favorite fresh seasonal blossoms include blue-cloud larkspur (reminding her of fluttering purple butterflies), and branches of dogwood, forsythia or pear, cut from her own garden. Binaifer makes every attempt to source her flowers from U.S. and each stem is hand-selected to ensure a close-to-perfect bloom. When native flowers are unavailable, she selects unique blooms such as red gloriosa lilies, purple Vanda orchids, or ochre voodoo roses.

Binaifer creates flower designs for private clients, retail customers, offices, and events large and small. Her arrangements have graced local Washington, DC area establishments and events including:

• Temple Rodef Shalom — flowers for weekly services and High Holy Day services, 20th Anniversary reception, and bar/bar mitzvah celebrations

• Sun Design Remodeling Specialists — home tours and special events

• Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center —  private reception in the Atrium

• Fundraisers and silent auctions including Terry McAuliffe’s fundraiser for President Obama, Holy Trinity Catholic Church Fall Festival of Flowers, Great Falls Foundation of the Arts, and Lake Barcroft Earth Day.

• Weddings, private parties, and more.

Binaifer has trained at the Judith Blacklock Flower School in London, and is a contributing writer for Blacklock’s The Flower Arranger magazine. In 2009, Binaifer was selected as one of 12 semi-finalists for Chief Flower Designer for the Obama White House. She is based in Falls Church, Virginia and provides flower designs to clients throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
